How to use NDI multicast?

ZowieBox，ZowiePOV, ZowiePTZ all supports NDI multicast transmission.

1. Switch/router settings

(1) Please refer to the user manual of the router and switch or ask the manufacturer to ensure that the switch or router used support the multicast function.

(2) Configure the multicast address of the switch. For example, in the figure below, turn on the multicast function of network ports 1 and 2 and set the multicast address to 225.0.0.0/8.

2. Encoder settings

(1) Open the NDI device that needs to use multicast. Please make sure that NDI is activated first. After logging in to the web console, click Setting->System->NDI in sequence to ensure that NDI is activated.

(2) Click Setting->Streaming->NDI in sequence, turn on the NDI function and multicast function buttons, and enter the multicast address and subnet mask corresponding to the switch or router.

After the configuration is completed, please restart the device.

3. Decoder settings

(1) If you use ZowieBox for decoding, please log in to the web console and click Setting->System->NDI in sequence to ensure that NDI is activated on the device.

(2) Click Setting->Decoding->NDI, click NDI Settings in the upper right corner to turn on the multicast function and configure the multicast address and subnet mask that match the router/switch.

(3) If you use NDI monitor for decoding, open the NDI tool, click Access Manager, check Multicast Settings in Advanced, enter the matching multicast address and subnet mask, and click OK.

4. If you find that NDI cannot be searched or the video has mosaics after configuring NDI multicast, please check in the following order:

(1) Please make sure that your switch or router supports the multicast function

(2) Please make sure that your encoding device, decoding device or PC is connected to the network port or switch configured with the multicast function

(3) Please make sure that the multicast address you configured complies with the multicast specification.

(4) Please turn off the multicast function of the switch/router, encoder, and decoder and check whether there has mosaics or cannot be searched problem.
