How to Use SRT Caller, Listener, and Rendezvous Mode

For versions 1.1.0.7 and later, Zowietek series products support SRT Caller, Listener, and Rendezvous mode.

Method 1: Listener mode by encoder, and Caller mode by decoder  

  1. Log in to encoder’s web control interface, click Setting > Streaming > Local Stream, and obtain the listener URL.
  1. Log in to the decoder’s web control interface, click Setting > System > Working Mode, and switch the working mode to Decoder Mode.
  1. Click Setting > Decoding > Local, and turn off the server button.
  1. Change the type to Caller mode and fill in the URL obtained in Step 1 according to the format shown below.
  1. Click the Save button, then turn on the server and play button. The device will begin decoding.

Method 2: Caller mode by encoder, Listener mode by decoder

  1. Log in to the decoder’s web control interface, click Setting > System > Working Mode, and switch the working mode to Decoder Mode.
  1. Click Setting > Decoding > Local, and turn off the server button.
  1. Change the type to Listener mode and obtain the URL required for the encoder to stream. (The set port must not conflict with any already in use.)
  1. Click Save, then turn on the service and playbuttons on the left.
  1. Log in to the encoder’s web control interface, click Setting > Streaming > Live and click the +Addbutton in the upper-right corner.
  1. Enter a custom Alias name, set the protocol mode to SRT Caller, and fill in the decoder’s IP, port number, and Stream ID as shown below.
  1. After completing the settings, click Save and turn on the streaming switch on the left.

Method 3: Both encoder and decoder use Rendezvous mode

  1. Log in to the encoder’s web control interface, click Setting > Streaming > Live, and click the +Addbutton in the upper-right corner.
  1. Enter a custom Alias name, set the protocol mode to SRT Rendezvous, fill in a custom port and Stream ID, and enter the decoder device’s IP address in the Hostname field.
  1. After completing the settings, click Save and turn on the streaming switch on the left.
  1. Log in to the decoder’s web control interface, click Setting > System > Working Mode, and switch the working mode to Decoder Mode.
  1. Click Setting > Decoding > Local, and turn off the server button.
  1. Change the type to Rendezvous mode, enter the encoder device’s IP address in the Hostname field, and fill in the same Stream ID and port as the encoder.
  1. Click Save, then turn on the serve and play buttons on the left.
