1. What NTP Does

When transmitting video, NDI uses each device’s local system time to generate timestamps by default. If your cameras, encoders, or capture cards have even tiny timing discrepancies—whether fractions of a second or a few milliseconds—the NDI receiver will exhibit out-of-sync video when combining or switching streams.

By binding all NDI capture devices on your local network to the same NTP time server, all devices align their system clocks with millisecond-level precision.

Note: Due to network latency and transport jitter, a minor difference of 1 to 2 frames may still exist between devices during actual streaming.

2. Environment Requirements

• Firmware Version: Ensure all devices are running v2.0.0.48 or later.
• Internet Connectivity: When using a public/online NTP server, verify that devices have active internet access (and that UDP port 123 is not blocked).

3. Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Access the NTP Interface：

In the device WEB interface, go to Setting -> System ->Time.

2.Step 2: Add an NTP Server

Click the “+” icon in the lower right corner to add an NTP server. (Note: Duplicate NTP server entries are not allowed.)

3.Step 3: Reboot to Apply：

Once added, click the Reboot button  in the lower right corner to apply the new NTP server settings.

4. Parameter Descriptions

• NTP Polling Interval Range (– seconds): The device communicates with the NTP server based on this range. As uptime increases and the internal clock stabilizes, the polling interval automatically expands up to the configured maximum interval to conserve network resources.
• Iburst: When enabled, the device bypasses the standard polling interval on its initial sync and immediately uses the shortest interval for rapid time synchronization upon startup.
• Prefer: When enabled, the device prioritizes this specific NTP server as its primary clock reference over other configured servers.
